What is IB?
The International Baccalaureate (IB) aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment. These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.
The IB’s three programmes encourage both personal and academic achievement, challenging students to excel in their studies and in their personal development. IB programmes are developed independently from national systems and governments, incorporating best practice from research and a global community of more than 5,000 top-performing schools. IB World Schools encourage students of all ages to think critically and challenge assumptions, to become globally engaged, and to learn multilingually. International Baccalaureate® (IB) programmes aim to do more than other curricula by developing inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who are motivated to succeed.
IB programmes are different from many national curriculum frameworks because they:
- Encourage students of all ages to think critically and challenge assumptions
- Develop independently of government and national systems, incorporating
- Quality practice from research and our global community of schools
- Encourage students of all ages to consider both local and global contexts
- Develop multilingual students.
UCF is registered with the Malaysian Ministry of Education (MOE) and the Malaysia Qualification Authority (MQA) accredits the programmes. Detail of the accreditation is available at: https://www2.mqa.gov.my/mqr/ UCF is rated as “competitive” under the 2022 SETARA rating by Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia.
Celebrating Milestones of Excellence
UCF continues to advance its reputation through key achievements:
- International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO) accreditation for our Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), placing us among a global network of distinguished IB educators.
- Full accreditation from the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA), the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), and the Ministry of Education (MOE) for our Foundation in Music (FIM), Bachelor of Education (BEd), Master of Education (MEd), and Doctor of Education (DEd) programmes.
- Launch of a new programme—the Postgraduate Diploma in Education (IB)—delivered entirely through asynchronous learning. Currently in its final stages of accreditation, this programme empowers professionals to connect theory with practice through research methodologies such as case studies and ethnographic inquiry.
These accomplishments are not just accolades; they are powerful affirmations of UCF’s unwavering dedication to delivering quality, future-ready education.
