This highly competitive scholarship provides selected candidates with a fully funded three-year educational and professional development pathway combining:
- A Master of Education (M.Ed.)
- A Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) specialising in the International Baccalaureate (IB)
- Professional preparation for teaching in an international school environment
- Structured classroom teaching experience within the Fairview International Schools network
- Comprehensive financial support throughout the programme

International Baccalaureate (IB)
What is IB?
IB refers to the International Baccalaureate, a globally recognized education foundation that offers rigorous academic programs for students aged 3 to 19.
IBEC stands for IB Educator Certificates, which are professional credentials earned by teachers and school leaders to instruct in IB World Schools.
The International Baccalaureate (IB)
The IB is a non-profit international education foundation headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. It is known for emphasizing critical thinking, global awareness, and inquiry-based learning rather than rote memorization.
- The Four Programmes:
- PYP (Primary Years Programme) for ages 3 to 12.
- MYP (Middle Years Programme) for ages 11 to 16.
- DP (Diploma Programme) for ages 16 to 19.
- CP (Career-related Programme) for ages 16 to 18.
- Global Recognition: Recognized by universities and employers worldwide, making it highly attractive for internationally mobile students and families.
The IB Educator Certificate (IBEC)
An IBEC is a specialized, university-level credential designed for teachers and school administrators who want to work in IB schools.
- What it does: It proves an educator is specifically trained in IB philosophy, curriculum design, inquiry-based learning, and assessment, giving them a competitive edge in the global job market.
- How to get it: The certificate is earned by completing education degrees or professional development courses at recognized, accredited universities around the world (often in tandem with a Master’s Qualification).

IDEAL CANDIDATES INCLUDE:

- Candidates holding a Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum CGPA of 3.50 or equivalent

Previous teaching qualifications are not necessarily required, depending on the candidate’s academic background and programme eligibility.

THE FULL-RIDE SCHOLARSHIP MAY INCLUDE:

MONTHLY COST-OF-LIVING ALLOWANCE
Financial support to assist with day-to-day living expenses during the programme.
ACCOMMODATION
Accommodation provided throughout the programme, subject to the terms and conditions of the scholarship.
RETURN AIRFARE
Return airfare between Malaysia and the scholar’s designated home country, subject to the scholarship terms, at commencement and at the end of the programme.
VISA SPONSORSHIP AND PROCESSING
Support for the required visa and related administrative processes.

Teaching responsibilities are structured in accordance with the requirements of the placement school and the scholar’s stage of professional development.
Scholarship recipients may be placed within the Fairview International Schools network, subject to programme requirements and available placements.

POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN EDUCATION (PGDE)
A postgraduate teacher education qualification accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).
MASTER OF EDUCATION (M.Ed.)
A postgraduate degree providing advanced knowledge and professional development in education.
IB EDUCATOR DEVELOPMENT
Opportunities to pursue the relevant IB Educator Certificate pathway associated with the programme.
ADVANCED IB PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Eligible graduates may progress toward advanced IB teaching and learning research credentials, subject to the applicable IB and UCF requirements.
University College Fairview is a higher education institution operating within Malaysia’s higher education regulatory framework.
The programme is designed to provide scholars with qualifications and professional preparation relevant to international education.
The PGDE pathway is accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA), subject to the approved programme specifications.
UCF also provides IB-related educator pathways, enabling participants to develop specialised knowledge and professional competencies relevant to IB World Schools.
Recognition and eligibility for employment or further study in other countries will depend on the requirements of the relevant country, employer, professional body or institution.
The IB Full-Ride Scholarship is competitive.

STAGE 1 — APPLICATION
Submit the completed scholarship application together with the required supporting documents.
STAGE 2 — INITIAL ASSESSMENT
Applications are reviewed against the programme’s academic and eligibility criteria.
STAGE 3 — INTERVIEW
Shortlisted candidates participate in an interview process designed to assess:

STAGE 4 — SELECTION
The scholarship selection panel evaluates the candidate’s application, interview performance and overall suitability.
STAGE 5 — SCHOLARSHIP OFFER
Successful candidates receive a formal scholarship offer together with the applicable terms and conditions.
STAGE 6 — ENROLMENT AND INDUCTION
Scholarship recipients complete the required enrolment, visa and administrative procedures before commencing the programme.
A Full-Ride Scholarship represents a significant investment in the future of an educator.
Scholarship recipients are therefore expected to demonstrate a high level of commitment throughout the programme.
Scholars are expected to:
- Maintain satisfactory academic progress
- Participate actively in all required academic activities
- Fulfil professional teaching responsibilities
- Demonstrate professional conduct
- Participate in mentoring and professional development activities
- Meet the requirements of the academic programme
- Comply with the policies of UCF and the placement school
- Complete the programme within the required timeframe
Detailed scholarship obligations, performance requirements and conditions will be provided to successful candidates in the scholarship agreement.
The Full-Ride Scholarship is designed not only to support postgraduate education but also to develop a pipeline of highly qualified international educators.
Following successful completion of the programme, scholarship recipients will be offered a two-year teaching appointment within the Fairview International Schools network,
subject to the terms of the scholarship agreement and applicable employment requirements.
This provides graduates with the opportunity to continue developing their professional teaching experience after completing their qualifications.
The two-year commitment also enables graduates to consolidate their IB teaching knowledge and build a strong professional portfolio.
Upon successful completion of the three-year programme, graduates will receive:
Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and recognised by UK ENIC (formerly UK NARIC)
Master of Education (M.Ed.)
Eligibility to pursue the IB Certificate in Teaching and Learning
Eligibility to pursue the IB Advanced Certificate in Teaching and Learning Research after completing three years of teaching experience
A guaranteed two-year teaching appointment within the Fairview network of schools (a requirement for scholarship recipients)
